Gourmet mushroom cooking class – the art of cooking them and how to grow them @ Mercato Metrapolitano, Borough, 21 Feb and 17 March
Mark and Cesar will share their passion for gourmet mushrooms in this masterclass, imparting scientific knowledge about how to get the best out of them, and practical tips and recipes so you can bring delicious umami flavours to your meals.
Before the cooking class, you will visit Article Number 25’s mushroom farm, where the mushrooms are grown, which is next door to Mercato Metropolitano, where the cooking lesson will take place. Here, you will learn how to grow gourmet mushrooms from used coffee grounds and how to store mushrooms to get the best from them. You will also be given a bag of coffee grounds already inoculated with oyster mushrooms so that you can grow and harvest your own mushrooms at home.
During the cooking class, you will learn how to cook different gourmet mushrooms supplied by Article Number 25 to bring out their unique textures.
You will then eat what you have made with a complimentary glass of wine.

Food vs beer @ Four Boroughs, Crystal Palace, 6.30pm, 9 March 2018
Four Boroughs and Seasonal Kitchen are back for another round of ‘food vs beer’. This will be an incredible evening of beer and food matching. You will have four plant-based courses and four beers. Carefully matched after in depth testing (I know we have a difficult job!). Both teams from Four Borough’s and Seasonal Kitchen will be on hand to talk you through the beer & food pairings.
Spring supper @ Skip Garden, Kings Cross, 6.30pm, 22 March 2018
On Thursday 22 March, Seasonal Kitchen is taking over the kitchen at Skip Garden, Kings Cross. Over the course of the evening we will treat you to fresh seasonal ingredients, in a green paradise in the city matched with delicious natural wines.
It is a joy to eat at this time of year when the British land becomes alive. The garden kitchen will provide early spring delights. Start the evening with a seasonal cocktail in the yurt. Then move to the garden dining room for a delicious four course meal with matched natural wine.
The four-course menu is priced at £35, with matched natural wines priced at £20.
Italian kitchen skills @ Mercato Metrapolitano, Borough, 6.30pm 28 March 2018
We will bring the best seasonal ingredients to your chef station where you will prepare a delicious meal under expert guidance.
As part of the lesson you will:
- learn how to make pasta from scratch before turning it into a tortelli, filling the pasta with delicious seasonal ingredients and creating a delicious sauce to accompany it
- make a delicious artisan Italian bread – such as rosemary and black olive focaccia
- prepare a delicious Italian sweet – such as cantucci almond biscotti
We will offer an introduction to knife skills and share our top tips and chef’s secrets so that you can cook the recipes at home, and use the skills you have learnt to wow your friends and family.
We then enjoy what we have created with a glass of wine.
